Searching for Public Intermodal Rates

Retrieving intermodal rates is also quick and easy. You only need to select the Origin and/or Destination Hub Center. Next, press the 'Retrieve Rates' button with your mouse. Your rate request response will appear on the next screen. Intermodal has several optional rate selection parameters that you may utilize.

Hub Centers

There are over 35 Hub Centers to select from in both the origin and the destination dropbox.

You must make a selection from an Origin and/or Destination Hub Center. Then press the RETRIEVE RATES button with your mouse. Your rate request response will appear on the next screen.

Five optional query parameters are available. They are: Rate Authority, Domestic/International, Service Level, Service Code, and Equipment. You may use none or all of these optional parameters. If you do not use these optional parameters, your query response will return all rates based on the Hub Center(s).

New Queries

A 'Reset' button is located at the button of the query screen. If you wish to start over with your query, the 'Reset' button will clear all entered query parameters on this screen.

If you are viewing query results and want to run another query, without retaining the present query parameters, you may press the 'New Search' button near the upper left corner of the results page. This will generate a new copy of the first query page with all the entry fields blank. If you are viewing query results and want to run another query, but want to retain most of the original query parameters, use the BACK button on your browser to navigate from your results page back to the query screen. Once back to the query page, you can change some or all parameters for the next query.

Navigation on the Query Screen

The mouse will navigate you between all web page entry fields with all browsers. However, the use of your TAB, ENTER, and UP/DOWN keys to move between entry fields will very according to the Internet browser and version you are using. In version 4.0+ of Netscape or Microsoft's web browsers, the TAB key will move you from one entry field to the next on the query screen. Some older browsers will not respond to either the TAB or the UP/DOWN keys, in which case you must use the mouse.

Query Results

The results show any public rate(s) that meet your query criteria. The Rate Retrieval system will return the details of up to ten rates at a time. If more than ten rates exist, a More Rates button is provided to display the next ten rates. If no rates are found that matched the query parameters, a message will display that "No BNSF Public Rates were found that matched your query".

Rules & Conditions

Due to space limitations, not all rules and conditions for a rate are displayed on the query results page. Always check the full text of the rate authority document, and review all rules and price conditions. Use the 'Price Conditions' button to view all of the price conditions for the rate. To return from the Price Conditions screen to the Query Results page press the  'Back' button on your internet browser.

Dates

All rates with an effective date of the query request date (or any future date) will be stated in the query results. The expiration date of 12/31/9999 is used as a technical place holder when there is no specified expiration date; it does not mean the rate will never be expired. If the rate is scheduled to expire, a date will be stated. All public rates are subject to change.
