If you cannot use or access our online application system or need to request a reasonable accommodation, please call us at 817-352-3606.
I cannot log in to the system to apply.
Please verify that you are on the BNSF Careers website. Effective July 6, 2009, BNSF implemented a new Applicant Tracking System. Therefore all job seekers, including those who applied before July 6, must create a new online application.
To apply go to the BNSF Careers website. Select the Search Jobs/ Apply link. After reading and reviewing the Application information, click Search Jobs.
Can you send me an application?
No. At BNSF, we do not accept paper applications or resumes (e.g. faxes, e-mails, etc.). To apply visit the BNSF Careers website and click on Search Jobs/Apply link to get started.
How do I submit my resume?
Create or log on to your profile. Click the Candidate Profile link and then the Attachments tab. Click the Add Attachment button. Select Resume as the Attachment Type and then click the Browse button to navigate to the resume file on your computer. Click on the file name. Give the file a title like “My Resume” or optionally leave the title field blank. Click Save and you are done.
Note: You must submit your application to a specific job to be considered for that job.
I see more than one position that I am interested in, do I need to apply multiple times?
A separate application must be submitted for each job you wish to apply for.
What is the current status of my application?
Upon completion of the online application process, applicants receive a confirmation e-mail. At this point, the application is submitted to the job(s) of your choice. Applications are screened for the most qualified candidates to proceed to the next step in the process. With regret, due to the large volume of applications, we are unable to personally respond to all applicants. All candidates will receive an e-mail when their status changes.
How do I update my application?
Once an online application is submitted, the only information that can be changed or updated is your contact information (name, address, phone number). If you need to change your contact information, please log in and enter your user name and password. Click Communication Data, update your information and click Save.

The Resource Protection Team is responsible for all security measures at BNSF, including protecting BNSF people, freight, facilities, and the public BNSF serves. Those interested in employment should have had formal police officer training and preferably be a state certified police officer. If you possess these qualifications and are interested in employment with BNSF's Resource Protection Team, please submit your online application on the BNSF Careers website.

What is involved in the hair collection for drug screening?
BNSF uses a hair test for illegal drugs in its employment application process. Please note that it will be necessary for you to provide a hair specimen for this test, which will test for illegal or illicit drug use in the past 90 days. Hair specimens can be collected from EITHER the head or body and can be taken from several locations to get the required amount necessary for testing. Studies indicate that the head hair grows an average of 1/2 inch per month. You will not be able to progress an application for employment unless you are able to provide an adequate hair specimen for testing. More information regarding hair testing .
