For additional help with the CRP tool, call 888-428-BNSF (2673), option 4, 1 (available 24/7) or email eBizHelp@bnsf.com.
To access the Customized Rate Profile tool, just go to BNSF.com and log in with your user name and password. If you don’t have a bnsf.com login id, you’ll need to register. Once logged in, go to the Pricing tab and click on Customized Rate Profile. On the Customized Rate Profile Home page, go under Your Pricing Reports, Carload and click Create New Carload Report. Now you’re ready to create your customized rate report.
Here’s how you create a Carload Rate Report: Click Create New Carload Report. Under Pricing Type, using the dropdown menu, select Public or if your company has contracted rates with BNSF, select Private. Next, for Public Rates, fill in the search criteria to filter your Search. You must enter at least 2 of the 5 search criteria (Price Authority, Shipping Lane, Origin, Destination and Commodity) and you have to enter the Effective Date Range of your shipment for each Public Rate Search you wish to run. Under the first criterion, Price Authority, you can enter your Authority ID and Number. The convenient type-ahead feature can help you fill in this information. Next is the specific Item Number within your price authority. Under Shipping Lane you can select the type of origin or destination information you want to use for your Search: City and State, State only, County, or Zip Code. Next you can enter your Origin and Destination. The type-ahead feature will help you enter this information. Under Commodity you can enter the Commodity Description or the 3, 5 or 7 digit Standard Transportation Commodity Code or STCC. Once again, the type-ahead feature will help you enter this information. Once you’ve entered at least two of the preceding criteria, select the Effective Date Range. This information is required to generate a Public rate report. Select the Date Range from the dropdown menu. The Current Only option will give you rates that are only effective on the exact date the report is run. Current to Future Date gives you rates that are effective from the date the report is run up to the specified time in the future that you select from the dropdown menu under End Date below. You can select 1, 3 or 6 months in the future or 1 year in the future. The Future Only option gives you rates that are effective only on the selected date in the future from the day the report is run. You can select 1, 3 or 6 months in the future or 1 year in the future. To further refine your Search, you can add Advanced Criteria as well. Under Equipment Type in the Advanced Criteria box, you can select the type of equipment you are interested in. Under Carrier, you can enter the specific carrier you are interested in. You can also choose to include Scale Rates. Scale Rates show you how the rate changes the further out your destination is from your origin. For Private Rate reports, the available search criteria are the same, and you have the additional option of selecting a specific customer name from the Customer dropdown menu. However, for Private Rate reports you are not required to enter any search criteria in order to run your report. For both Public and Private Rate reports, when you have entered all desired criteria for your Search, select Add to Report. You can now add additional Searches to your report, if you choose. Remember, you can have up to 50 searches in each report. If you have more than 50 searches to enter, you will need to create a new report. Once you have added all desired Searches to the report, name the report and click Run Now. If your report was successfully validated, your rates will be sent to you via email in an Excel file. If your report was not validated due to errors, the email will direct you back to the tool to make the necessary corrections. After making corrections, click Run Now again. Your report will contain a Change Indicator column, which will note any changes for that item: A stands for ADDITION of a new rate. I means rate INCREASE. D indicates rate DECREASE. C denotes CHANGES other than rates. M means there are MULTIPLE changes for this item. X indicates rate EXPIRATION. For future reference, these Rate Change Indicator codes are also defined in the Frequently Asked Questions located in a tab at the top of the Carload report page. The change indicators reflect price authority changes and any new changes will be noted in the Change Indicator column each time you run your report. If you need any help, a link to contact information is provided at the bottom of the Carload Report page.
