More experienced users who already maintain an existing list of the criteria to be entered into the Report form can use the Excel Options to avoid re-keying all of the information for multiple Searches. This can be especially helpful when you have large amounts of data to add to the report; up to 50 Searches can be included in each report. Here’s how: Download an Excel template for a new report by selecting Download Template under Excel Options. Next, you can fill in the information line by line. To make entering your data easier, the template includes dropdown menus for some fields. You can also copy and paste from your Excel sheet, Word document or other file into the template. Again, a report can contain up to 50 Searches. If you have more Searches to enter, you will need to use a separate template. Once you have completed the Excel template, upload the file by selecting Import Excel File under Excel Options. Now, name the report, then select Run Now. You will receive an email shortly afterwards. If your report was successfully validated, it will be attached to the email. If there are errors that have to be corrected, the email will direct you back to the tool to make necessary corrections. After making corrections, select Run Now, or if you make your edits in the Excel file, just upload again after making corrections. Instructions are always available under Excel Options and a link to contact information for assistance can be found at the bottom of the Carload Report page.
