Prohibited Hazardous Commodities

Certain hazardous intermodal shipments are prohibited. (See the BNSF Intermodal Rules and Policies Guide , Prohibited Item, for a complete list of prohibited shipments.)

The following hazardous intermodal shipments cannot be accepted by BNSF. Prohibited hazardous commodities vary by equipment (trailers, containers, bulk bladders (flexi-tanks) and tank containers).

Trailers and Containers

1.1 To and from Barbours Cut, Texas, Galveston, Texas, Houston, Texas, La Porte, Texas, and Morgans Point, regardless of weight/quantity. At all other locations, shipments with 5,000 pounds or more of Division 1.1.
1.2 To and from Barbours Cut, TX, Galveston, TX, Houston, TX, La Porte, TX, and Morgans Point, regardless of weight/quantity. At all other locations, shipments with 5,000 pounds or more of Division 1.2.
1.3 To and from Barbours Cut, TX, Galveston, TX, Houston, TX, La Porte, TX, and Morgans Point, regardless of weight/quantity. At all other locations, shipments with 5,000 pounds or more of Division 1.3.
1.4 To and from Barbours Cut, TX, Galveston, TX, La Porte, TX, and Morgans Point, regardless of weight/quantity.
Toxic or poison inhalations hazards, including anhydrous ammonia* 1,000 pounds or greater

Any shipment tendered to BNSF containing these commodities (including residue) will be assessed a $10,000 charge and other applicable charges, and the shipper will be notified to pick up the shipment.
