Toyota Logistics Services Recognizes BNSF for Excellence in Quality Performance

2010-04-08

Toyota Logistics Services recognized BNSF on April 5 for Excellence in Quality Performance in 2009.

BNSF received this award based on its ability to provide Toyota with superior quality transportation and damage-free delivery. BNSF has received several awards from Toyota Logistics Services in the past, including the Logistics Excellence Award for Railroad Customer Service and Excellence in On-Time Performance.

"We are honored to again be recognized by Toyota for exceptional quality performance," said Marc Allen, assistant vice president, Automotive Marketing. "BNSF places a high priority on ensuring every vehicle reaches its destination on time and damage-free."

During 2009, BNSF handled more than 165,000 Toyota, Lexus and Scion vehicles out of Toyota plants in Georgetown, Ky.; Lafayette and Princeton, Ind.; Cambridge and Woodstock, Ontario; Fremont, Calif.; and San Antonio, Texas. Employees also handled Toyotas through BNSF's San Diego, Calif., facility for vehicles manufactured in Mexico as well as ports of entry in Portland, Ore., and Long Beach, Calif.

BNSF continues to lead the rail industry in low damage and delivered 99.8 percent Toyota vehicles last year damage-free through its quality processes at automotive facilities as well as its train handling procedures.
