BNSF Hosts National Rail Engineering Association

BNSF hosted the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance Association's (AREMA) Education and Training Committee for a recent three-day session at BNSF headquarters.
About 14 committee members attended, including those from BNSF who coordinated the event and representatives from other U.S. railroads and from engineering firms.
The committee is focused on implementing more railroad civil engineering courses at universities throughout the country. The committee also discussed providing seminars for railroad employees, consultants, educators and governmental transportation officials.
June Wells, manager, Dispatching Practices and Rules, gave the committee a tour of the Network Operations Center.
Individuals involved with the committee meeting included Cotton Smith, manager, Quality Assurance, Engineering; Art Charrow, director, Engineering Planning; Matt Keller, assistant director, Maintenance Production, Texas Division; Mike Mischke, consulting systems engineer, Transportation Services; and Todd Kuhn, manager, Public Projects, Northwest Division.
