Number of Employees Using Discount Program Rose in 2009

More than 18,000 BNSF people are now registered to use BNSF's employee discount program managed through PerkSpot.

Employees, retirees and family members are eligible to join the free discount program. PerkSpot, a third-party supplier, manages the program and the Web site displaying the online "goods" available.

In 2009, nearly 7,000 new site registrations were recorded. Monthly registrations ranged from a low of 380 new registrations in September to a high of 926 in February. More than 43,400 site visits were made during 2009. The highest number of site visits was recorded in November with 5,399.

How much money does PerkSpot save me?

As a whole, BNSF employees saved nearly $337,000 in 2009 using PerkSpot. Monthly average savings per transaction was nearly $48 in both August and September 2009.

"Our employee discount program provides a much wider range than ever before," said Ken Bryant, senior analyst, Strategic Sourcing. "Employees across the network can take advantage of national discounts as well as local discounts with participating merchants."

PerkSpot representatives have responded to employee feedback about navigation on the Web site and made significant changes to improve ease of use.

Users should, however, be sure to read instructions on how to take advantage of offered discounts.

Login to PerkSpot at bnsf.perkspot.com. For new registrants, the code word for membership is bnsf.
