BNSF Employees in Galesburg Honored with Live United Spirit Award

BNSF employees in Galesburg, Ill., were honored with the Knox County United Way Live United Spirit Award as a Top 10 Contributor for the local 2009-2010 campaign. Employee and company contributions were $73,346 in the most recent campaign.

"The Live United Spirit Award is given to an individual or company that provides outstanding support to the United Way and our community and embodies the spirit and enthusiasm that is the true essence of the United Way," said Ann Tucker, executive director, in presenting the award. "The winner demonstrates all three principles of the Live United movement: Give. Advocate. And volunteer."

Tucker also cited employee support in a variety of local community events.

Employee support of United Way has grown from $35,000 in contributions in 2005 to $45,000 in 2008.

"We as employees know that demands on United Way agencies continue to increase, and this is our way of lending a helping hand both to the organization and to our friends and neighbors who may need assistance," said Rick Danielson, terminal superintendent.
