Service Excellence Team Activities for 2009 Recapped

The Service Excellence Team had what can only be described as a busy year in 2009.

Best Way implementations were completed at terminals in Barstow, Calif.; Pasco, Wash.; Fort Worth, Texas; Memphis, Tenn.; Denver; Lincoln, Neb.; Vancouver, Wash.; Tulsa, Okla.; and Seattle.

Each of these locations posed slightly different challenges, and the implementation teams used dynamic Best Way processes to adapt to business demands.

• In Fort Worth, Vancouver and Seattle, the teams implemented Best Way processes across multiple locations to incorporate the entire local complex.
• Denver offered an additional challenge with high gathering and distribution volumes.
• Pasco and Tulsa operated with directional hump operations.
• Lincoln required additional focus on its intermediate traffic due to the high volume of loaded and empty coal trains.
• Memphis required additional efforts to address high interchange traffic.

Going into 2010, the Best Way team plans to touch intermodal and coal operations, and reach out to larger geographical areas, including smaller volume terminals, such as facilities on the Gulf Division.
