Susan Borsellino Honored with Patriot Award for Employee Support
2010-01-14
Susan Borsellino, director, Technology Services, based in Fort Worth, Texas, received a Patriot Award for supporting a Denver-based employee attached to the Wyoming National Guard.
The Patriot Award is an honor bestowed by the U.S. Department of Defense's National
Committee for the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR).
Gregory Johnson, a senior master sergeant in the Wyoming National Guard, nominated Borsellino for her support. Johnson is a telecommunications maintenance manager II based in Denver.
"She understood from the beginning that I would have duties and responsibilities to serve," Johnson said in his nomination. Borsellino "never wavered when the time came for me to conduct my military commitments."
In addition, Johnson was scheduled to attend a three-week Senior Enlisted School at Sheppard Air Force Base. Her support, Johnson said, allowed him to assist his unit "with vital preparations for military missions in the very near future, without having felt like his service bore burdens on her or BNSF."
The "Patriot Award" program was designed to recognize employers who go "Above & Beyond" in their practice and policies demonstrating strong support of service members who serve in the National Guard and Reserve forces. All recipients receive the National Patriot Award certificate and a lapel pin.
John Wesley, manager, Staffing/Sourcing, who recruits former service men and women for employment at BNSF, presented the award to Borsellino.
