Call for Essays: Win a Trip to Washington, D.C.

2010-01-18

For the fourth straight year GoRail, an industry advocacy group, is inviting BNSF and other rail industry employees to submit essays for the chance to win a trip to Washington, D.C., and participate in Railroad Day on Capitol Hill.

Railroad Day takes place on Thursday, Feb. 25.

In 150 words or less, tell GoRail why you believe freight railroads are critical to your local economy and to creating jobs. If your essay is chosen, you will join other rail employees and rail advocates on Capitol Hill on Feb. 25 to push for increasing freight railroad capacity and preserving balanced regulation.

Rules

Only one essay per employee may be submitted per GoRail guidelines. Essays must be 150 words or less and include the following contact information: name, company, e-mail address, phone number and street address. Submissions that omit any of the required information will be excluded from the 2010 contest. The expense-paid trip includes hotel, airfare, ground transportation and meals.

To enter, e-mail your essay to lmcnichol@gorail.org no later than Jan. 22.

Past BNSF winners include Patrick Flynn, a dispatcher at the Kansas City Regional Operations Center; and Donna Parr, a clerk on the Gulf Division in Spring, Texas.

Railroad Day on the Hill is organized by the Association of American Railroads, American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association, National Railroad Construction and Maintenance Association Inc., Railway Supply Institute, Railway Systems Suppliers Inc. and Railway Engineering-Maintenance Suppliers Association.
