Supply Chain Summit Focuses on "Powering the Supply Chain"

2010-07-26

More than 225 shippers, ocean carriers, trucking companies, logistics providers and other supply chain leaders gathered in Grapevine, Texas, on July 15 for the annual Consumer Products Supply Chain Summit. Attendance at this year's summit set a new record.

The theme, "Powering the Supply Chain," focused on how greater collaboration and coordination fuels the supply chain. To encourage this interaction, the summit included three panel discussions. In the "Shipper Panel," executives from Michael's Arts & Crafts, Abercrombie & Fitch, Kellogg's and Kimberly-Clark gave their insights on the supply chain and the increasing importance of intermodal transportation.

Then, a BNSF Intermodal Panel, featuring Fred Malesa, vice president, Consumer Products International; Katie Farmer, vice president, Consumer Products Domestic, and Richard Miller, general director, Consumer Products, Sales, looked at the future of BNSF intermodal. The summit ended with a panel discussion featuring Matt Rose, chairman, president and chief executive office; John Lanigan, executive vice president and chief marketing officer; and Carl Ice, executive vice president and chief operations officer.

Other presenters at the summit included Paul B. Anderson, vice president, Marketing Support, and Tom G. Williams, vice president, Industrial Products Sales. Steve Branscum, group vice president, Consumer Products, was the official host and moderator of the event.
