BNSF Named to G.I. Jobs' Magazine Top 100 Military Friendly Companies

BNSF was ranked fourth in the G.I. Jobs magazine's Top 100 Military Friendly Companies, which was announced on Nov. 15.

BNSF was recognized with more than 1,200 employees hired in 2011, a 23 percent year-to-date veteran hire percentage for 2011; the company has been on the magazine's list seven times in recent years.

Amazon.com, the online retail giant, ranked first. Another railroad, CSX, also ranked in the Top 10 on the latest list. Johnson Controls, a company that provides facilities management for BNSF, repeated in the number 7 slot this year.

"We are honored by this recognition," said John Wesley, BNSF manager of Military Staffing. "BNSF is committed to hiring veterans in part to show our appreciation for their service to our country, but we also fully appreciate the skills, knowledge and discipline they bring to the table."

The list showcases the top 2 percent of veteran-friendly companies in the United States.

The companies generate at least $500 million in annual revenue and have shown through policy and practice that they prize military experience. More than 5,000 companies are eligible.
