BNSF Receives K-State's "Company of the Year" Honor
2012-04-30
The College of Engineering at Kansas State University (K-State) and its Tau Beta Pi all-engineering honorary society named BNSF its 2011-2012 Company of the Year. The award was presented at their annual Company of the Year Banquet, which is held in conjunction with K-State's Engineering Open House.
"The honor is given to companies that have been committed to engineering education and to high standards and quality performance in the engineering profession. BNSF Railway certainly more than qualifies, and it is our honor to recognize the company," said John R. English, College of Engineering dean, in a letter announcing the honor.
Carl Ice, president and chief operating officer, accepted the award on BNSF's behalf. In his acceptance remarks, Ice noted that BNSF and K-State share a commitment to their respective vision and values. "Both organizations share a common interest in the value of education and of an engineering education, which is what we are celebrating tonight," Ice said.
Several BNSF employee alumni of K-State, as well as members of the HR team that recruits for BNSF's Management Trainee program at K-State, also represented BNSF at the event.
