Holiday Express brings joy to military families
2012-12-13
The fifth annual Holiday Express brought smiles to the faces of military families during its
run in Arizona, Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma.
This year's tour, which concluded in Phoenix on Dec. 7, entertained about 2,500 soldiers and their families. Children were able to visit with Santa and receive a tree ornament designed especially for the Holiday Express.
The BNSF Foundation also presented $110,000 in checks to a variety of organizations that assist military families.
Andrew Johnsen, assistant vice president, State Government Affairs, said BNSF is pleased to provide the Holiday Express in support of the military. "The men and women of the military and their families make many sacrifices as part of their service to this great country," Johnsen said. "The Holiday Express is our way of saying thanks. The donations help support these military families in a very real way."
