It's Time for the 2013 BNSF Calendar Photo Contest!

Get ready, get set, get snapping! It's time to start submitting photos for the 2013 BNSF Calendar Photo Contest.

Submissions for the calendar are being accepted now through July 2.

As you get started, please remember that our calendar photos represent the four seasons, the different commodities handled by BNSF and the various regions of our network. You should also remember the following:

• Photos must include a BNSF train; only the newest paint scheme will be accepted.
• Horizontal pictures work best for the calendar's format.
• Using a digital camera that captures at least 8 megapixels is recommended. Pictures should be in focus.
• Each photo entry should have its own entry form. Limit three entries per employee.
• A high-resolution, electronic copy the photo should be saved to a disk or USB drive and submitted with the entry form. One disk or USB drive is acceptable for multiple entries (up to three).
• Please include a color printout of the digital image.
• Pictures may include BNSF employees working on the railroad.

Some general questions and answers about the contest follow.

Q: Can non-employee photographers submit photos?

A: No, the contest is open to BNSF employees only.

Q: Are photos and disks returned?

A: If a self-addressed, stamped envelope is provided, all efforts will be made to return the photo.

Q: Do the selected photographers win something?

A: Yes, the photographers receive $300 for each shot selected. The grand-prize winner receives $600.

Q: Are photograph entries used for other BNSF publications?

A: Sometimes. BNSF purchases the right to use winning entries in BNSF publications. Non-winning entries may also be used. If so, the photographer will be compensated.

Q: How are the photos selected?

A: A committee selects the winning photos based on composition, color, quality and uniqueness. The committee tries to select photos representative of each season, various regions of our network, and the different commodities BNSF handles. Remember: digital images that are at least 8 megapixels or higher are preferred.

Be sure to complete the submission form and include your name, phone number, email address, mailing address, job title, location and a brief description of the picture, including location and time of year taken. For entry forms, click here.
