Annual Phoenix Children's Train Delivers Delight
2012-11-12
BNSF recently hosted more than 500 children and adults from local organizations for the 13th annual Phoenix Children's Train from Glendale to Wickenburg, Ariz.
Children from the Phoenix Children's Hospital, Arizona Burn Center and Rise Family Services participated.
"This is a very special train trip for us because it gives us an opportunity to give back to the communities we serve," said Daryl Ness, BNSF general manager, Southwest Division. "We all look forward every year to giving these children a special treat."
The special train consisted of two BNSF locomotives and nine passenger cars. Children enjoyed refreshments and were treated to a face painter, balloon artist and magician. Each also received a wooden train whistle and engineer hat as mementos.
All employees associated with the special train ride did so as volunteers. More than 5,000 children to-date have enjoyed the special train ride.
