BNSF contributes to education programs at Glacier National Park
2013-07-24
The BNSF Railway Foundation recently granted $50,000 to the Glacier National Park Conservancy in Montana to help fund current education programs for children and adults
According to the Conservancy's director, Jane Ratzlaff, BNSF's donation will also help with the purchase of an advanced printer to create exhibit parts out of long-lasting materials.
"BNSF has a long history of supporting Glacier National Park," said BNSF's Zak Andersen, vice president, Corporate Relations. "We really feel it's part of our identity. This funding assists with projects that are important to the park."
Glacier, founded in 1910 as the 10th U.S. national park, preserves more than 1 million acres of the Northern Rocky Mountains. The park contains 740 miles of hiking trails and is home to 340 animal species.
The Conservancy and its predecessor, the Glacier Association, have protected the parklands while providing education and research opportunities since 1941.
In celebration of the park's recent centennial, the BNSF Railway Foundation also donated $500,000 over a period of several years.
