Zak Andersen promoted to vice president, Corporate Relations

Zak Andersen has been promoted to vice president, Corporate Relations, succeeding John Ambler, who is leaving BNSF and returning to Houston to accept a new opportunity with Memorial Hermann Health Systems.
In his new role, Andersen will report to Roger Nober, executive vice president, Law and Secretary.
"Zak will bring a deep experience in public policy and public affairs to this role," Nober said. "Technology has changed the way our stakeholders communicate. Zak's focus will be to ensure that we are reaching the right audience with the right message."
Andersen has served as assistant vice president, Community and Public Affairs, since January 2012.
He started with BNSF Railway in March 2006 as director, Federal Government Affairs, in Washington, D.C. He was promoted to assistant vice president, Federal Government Affairs, in November 2008.
Prior to joining BNSF, Andersen worked nine years for U.S. Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.), finishing his time in the Senate as the Senator's legislative director from September 2000 through October 2002 and then as chief of staff from November 2002 through January 2005.
Andersen has a bachelor of arts degree in political science from the University of Montana.
