BNSF honors 109 shippers for safe transport of hazardous materials

2013-06-18

BNSF on June 18 honored 109 shippers with the railroad's 16th Annual Product Stewardship Award for the safe transportation of hazardous materials by rail during 2012.

The companies were selected for the award for transporting a minimum of 500 loaded tank cars of hazardous materials during the previous year with zero non-accident releases during the entire transportation cycle and for successfully implementing the ethics of Product Stewardship under the American Chemistry Council's Responsible Care® initiative.

"BNSF is committed to the safety of our customers' shipments, the communities we serve, our employees and the environment," said Steve Bobb, BNSF executive vice president and chief marketing officer. "We are honored to do business with so many customers that share BNSF's dedication to the safe transportation of hazardous materials."
