FORTUNE Ranks BNSF as “Most Admired” U.S. Railroad

BNSF is a leader in FORTUNE Magazine’s ranking of most admired companies. In its March 17 issue, the business publication has listed BNSF as America’s most admired company in the railroad industry with a score of 8.34 on a 10 point scale.

BNSF earned the prestigious title by receiving high marks in a series of eight key attributes: innovation, people management, use of corporate assets, social responsibility, quality of management, financial soundness, long-term investment and the quality of products/services.

BNSF also ranked in the top 10 of all rated companies across all industries for innovation, use of corporate assets, quality of management, financial soundness and long-term investment.

Ratings are determined after FORTUNE and a consulting agency, the Hay Group, sort the FORTUNE 1000 companies into groups based on industry and then select the 10 largest from each. Teams of executives and analysts grade the companies based on a scorecard listing the previously mentioned categories. Surveys and historical data also are taken into account.
