The BNSF AG Products business team is frequently asked about shipping agricultural products in private or steamship containers. In our ongoing commitment to make BNSF easy to do business with, we are providing an update to policies and procedures that govern the movement of Intermodal container shipments containing AG products. This ACRES announcement includes:

Update on price authorities governing loaded westbound shipments of AG bulk and AG packaged products in private or steamship containers from the following origins: Dilworth, Minot, and St. Paul to the Ports of Seattle and Tacoma for export. |
With a target effective date of June 1, 2008, the following International container rates, Plan Code 85, ramp to ramp service, will be published on the Intermodal Public Prices web page close to the effective date.

BNSF is a wholesaler of Intermodal Transportation. As such BNSF does not own, supply or manage Intermodal equipment (trailers, containers or chassis). Procurement of Private or Steamship ISO Intermodal equipment for movement on BNSF is the responsibility of Shipper. The typical process to procure acceptable Intermodal equipment is to directly contact any of the Steamship lines or Shipping Agents serving North America. |
Before an Intermodal shipment can be tendered to BNSF, an Intermodal Shipper MUST complete a transportation contract with BNSF and conditions, including but not limited to, establishing credit and EFT.
