BNSF to Report Fourth-Quarter Earnings Jan. 23; Analysts Meeting to Be Accessible via Internet

FORT WORTH, Texas, January 4, 2001:

Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corporation (BNSF) (NYSE: BNI) will report fourth-quarter earnings and other performance results at its regular quarterly meeting with financial analysts at 8:45 a.m. Eastern Time January 23, 2001, in New York City.

Presentation material and a simultaneous Webcast of the meeting will be available on BNSF's Web site at www.bnsf.com. BNSF suggests that those who plan to access the meeting through the Web go to the BNSF site by 8:30 a.m. Eastern Time to download the presentation and install any software required to run the presentation. It will not be possible for participants via the Web to ask questions.

For those who cannot listen to the live Webcast, a replay will be available on BNSF's Web site about two hours after the meeting concludes at approximately 10 a.m. Eastern Time.
