BNSF, UTU, BLE Name Members Of Executive Safety Committee

May 8, 2001:

In the aftermath of the Safety Summit held on April 30 in Kansas City, the presidents of BNSF, the United Transportation Union (UTU) and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers (BLE) have announced their representatives to the Executive Safety Committee.

At the safety summit, the presidents of the three organizations pledged to establish an Executive Safety Committee empowered to recommend solutions to improve safety issues on BNSF.

In order to move the safety process forward, the BNSF and the BLE and UTU also agreed to conclude the discussions by August 1. The first meeting of the Executive Safety Committee is scheduled to take place later this month.

Representing the BNSF is Vice President, Transportation David Dealy.

Representing the BLE is Vice President Dale McPherson.

Representing the UTU is Vice President Rick Marceau.

“Dave is the appropriate representative for BNSF,” says Carl Ice, vice president and chief operations officer, “but he’ll need input from our whole organization, along with the continued help and support of Greg Stengem, who laid the groundwork for creation of the Executive Safety Committee.”

Stengem is BNSF’s vice president, Safety, Training and Operations Support.
