BNSF Launches BNSF Logistics to Provide Logistics Planning and Execution Services

FORT WORTH, Texas, August 13, 2002:

Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corporation (BNSF) (NYSE: BNI) today announced the formation of BNSF Logistics, LLC. BNSF Logistics has acquired certain assets of Clicklogistics, Inc., which will form its management infrastructure and customer base. Acquisition costs were not disclosed.

BNSF Logistics, an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corporation, is located in Springdale, Ark. It will offer customers a suite of logistics products and services, including network analysis, design and optimization, and a variety of execution services, including multi-modal transportation management.

"The formation of BNSF Logistics is further example of our commitment to reach deeper into our customers' supply chains," said Matt Rose, BNSF chairman, president and chief executive officer. "Through BNSF Logistics, BNSF plans to provide customers with more efficient logistics solutions."

Clicklogistics, Inc. is a privately held, third-party logistics and technology company that was formed in 1997 and is headquartered in Boston, Mass.

Matt Rose announced that Eric Wolfe, formerly the chief operating officer of Clicklogistics, has been appointed vice president, BNSF Logistics. "I'm extremely pleased to join BNSF because of its commitment to providing its customers with a set of logistics resources rarely available in the 3PL arena," said Wolfe.

Wolfe has nearly 15-years experience in transportation and logistics. He began his career with J.B. Hunt Transport Services 1988, ultimately serving as vice president of Operations for J.B. Hunt Logistics, Inc. (now a part of Transplace). In 1997, he joined the new venture-company Cardinal Logistics, Inc. (the predecessor of Clicklogistics) as senior vice president-Logistics. Wolfe was named chief operating officer of Clicklogistics in late 1999.
