Equipment Request
BNSF has developed the second release of an internet option that will
let you manage all parts of an equipment request for shipments that originate
on BNSF using your internet browser. The new features and enhancements
are listed below:
- The first screen displayed to the user is the Summary page option
to easily evaluate what next steps need to be taken for the day(s) or
weeks to follow.
- From the Summary page, the user can view the daily equipment request
summary by clicking the group number link.
- From the daily equipment request summary link, the user can click
the equipment request number to view the details of the empty cars.
- The Summary page now contains a new red diamond at the top of the
page to link to the Main Menu.
- A new link on the Summary page is the View Calendar piece. The user
has the ability to review the equipment request counts for the previous
week, the current week, and the next two weeks. Each calendar is for
a specific commodity and equipment group at the facility that is currently
being processed.
- The Modify link from the Summary page will now let the user reduce
an equipment request below the number of cars applied. This was built
in for those customers who needed the ability to change their request(s)
as business changes. Accurate demand lets BNSF allocate equipment more
efficiently.
- A Scorecard option has been added to the Main Menu page to provide
information regarding both BNSF and customer performance regarding:
- fill percentage of equipment placed vs. latest number requested
- number of cars placed, released loaded, rejected, arriving in
the destination terminal that did not get placed at the customer's
facility
- number of changes made to the equipment request
- number of days advance notice of the request
