Industrial Products Network Update for Friday, June 7, 2024

Jun 7, 2024

BNSF operating teams are focused on maintaining positive performance momentum across the network. Average car velocity, currently at its highest weekly level this year, increased week-over-week and is over four percent higher than the average for May. Terminal dwell improved by almost four percent compared to the prior week, over four percent from the previous month, and is at the lowest level we have reported this year. Our local service compliance measure, which reflects our timeliness in handling carload freight, exceeds 91%. With the Memorial Day holiday included for this reporting period, the total volume moved by the railroad was down versus the previous week.

Severe thunderstorms are expected for portions of the Southern Plains from Colorado eastward to Mississippi through the weekend. Excessive heat will continue across parts of the desert Southwest into Saturday, with high temperatures approaching 115 degrees in some locations. BNSF teams are monitoring conditions closely and will take appropriate actions as necessary to ensure safe operations across our network.

The rest of the network should experience favorable operating conditions during the upcoming week.
