Train Trace Help:

General Notes:

Similar to the Unit Trace section, you can now track your trains by entering in the Train ID.

You can enter in as much as 30 Train Symbols, up to 4 Trains in the tool.

You may enter in the Train Symbols manually or copy and paste them into the box from a different application.

Train Symbol Format:

Train Symbols must be a minimum of 7 characters and follow a specific format. The first letter is the Train Type. The next 3 letters is the Origin and the following 3 letters are the Destination.

Wild Cards:

When entering Train Symbols you can use wild cards (* - asterisk) in order to track multiple trains going to or coming from the same location.

Enter the train symbol in the proper Train Symbol format, but instead of typing the Destination or Origin use wild cards.

For example, to see all trains from a specific Origin:

You may also use wild cards for both the Origin and the Destination at the same time.

Exporting Output:

The Train Tracing report may be Exported to an Excel file, a CSV file, or a text file.

Once the report is generated just select Export to display a drop down menu, and then click on where you would like the report to be exported to.

  • A text file will put all the Equipment into Notepad without keeping source formatting
  • An Excel file will show the same things that are in the report exactly where it is
  • A CSV file will be exported into Excel

Printing Output:

The Train Tracing report may be printed directly from your internet browser by selecting <Print> from the <File> menu.

You may also cut and paste the report from your browser to any other application that supports cut and paste. To cut and paste the report, follow these instructions:

  1. Select the print mode of Text prior to tracing.
  2. On the tracing report, highlight the area you wish to cut out by dragging the mouse over it while pressing down the left mouse button.
  3. Choose <Copy> from the <Edit> menu or press <Ctrl>+<Insert>. This will copy the highlighted data to the system clipboard.
  4. Start your application and press <Shift>+<Insert> to paste the contents of the clipboard into your application.
