Management Trainee - Safety

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
|
Conduct procedures for accident investigation that identify causal
factors and provide a way to eliminate future occurrences. Support
and participate in division/facility safety peer group activities.
Implement and maintain a continuous suggestion/input system that
fosters employee involvement and participation. Collect, analyze
and interpret accident statistics and prevention activity data.
Monitor federal, state and local safety regulations and adjust current
safety processes to encompass procedures and activities that must
be implemented in order to assure compliance. Maintain a cross-functional
relationship with industrial hygiene, purchasing, medical, claims,
mechanical and engineering to effectively direct efforts to maintain
and improve safety and health conditions within BNSF. Participate
in the planning and implementation of all engineering projects,
including those involving contractors.

Qualifications
|
Bachelors or Masters degree in Industrial Safety or Safety Engineering,
Industrial Psychology with a safety emphasis or closely related
field. Should have analytical skills and an understanding of: risk
management concepts, behavior-based safety principles, fire prevention
technology, accountability through safety metrics, statistics, OSHA,
NFPA, NEC, life safety regulations, human-factor engineering concepts,
ergonomics principles, measurement and auditing methods, communication
and feedback, fleet safety, and computer operation. GPA of 3.0 or
above. A current grade transcript must be produced for consideration.

Working Conditions
|
Field and office environment. Extensive travel (approx. 50% of
time). On call 24 hours per day. 20-30% office work.
