BNSF Names Keating to Succeed Russack As Vice President, Corporate Relations

FORT WORTH, Texas, November 15, 2006:

Mary Jo Keating has been named vice president, Corporate Relations, for BNSF Railway Company, it was announced today by Jeffrey R. Moreland, BNSF's executive vice president, Law and Government Affairs and Secretary. Keating, whose appointment is effective in January 2007, joined BNSF Nov. 13. She will succeed Richard A. Russack, who has announced his intention to retire from BNSF April 30, 2007.

"Dick has done an outstanding job managing the increasingly complex communications role for BNSF," Moreland said. "Mary Jo brings a wealth of experience to our company, and we are pleased to have her join BNSF."

Keating joins BNSF from Northeast Utilities, where she served as vice president – Corporate Communications. Prior to joining NU in 1995, Keating was corporate communications group director at the Campbell Soup Company. Before that she served as director of corporate communications at Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc. From 1982 to 1992 she was with The DuPont Company.

Russack will retain his position as president of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Foundation through 2007. Prior to joining Burlington Northern, Inc. in October 1991, Russack was managing director of Adams & Rinehart Inc., New York, beginning in 1989.
