BNSF Railway Honored with 2007 LATINA Style 50 Award

FORT WORTH, Texas, March 5, 2007:

Award Recognizes Corporate Diversity InitiativesAnd Career Advancement for Professional Hispanic Women

BNSF Railway Company has been named by LATINA Style magazine as one of the 50 best companies for Latinas to work for in the United States. BNSF was recognized by influential leaders of the Hispanic community at the Seventh Annual LATINA Style 50 Awards event in Washington D.C.

Joann Olsovsky, BNSF’s assistant vice president, Telecommunications, and Barbara Cook, assistant vice president, Human Resources, accepted the award on behalf of the company.

“BNSF is committed to its diversity initiatives and to our Latina professionals,” said Olsovsky.  “We were honored to receive this prestigious recognition in the presence of so many prominent Latina leaders representing our U.S. government and many major corporations.”

The awards are the result of an extensive survey of over 800 Fortune 1000 companies’ practices including leadership programs, employee benefits, and Latina representation in executive positions.

The LATINA Style 50 report, a comprehensive annual study of the 50 best companies for Latinas to work for in the United States, is the most respected evaluation of corporate America’s policies and practices as they relate to Latinas in this country.

The awards for this program were first presented in 1998 at the Vice President’s residence in Washington, D.C., and have been presented at the White House ever since. The U.S. Secretary of Labor hosts the awards each year.
