Pacific Harbor Line (PHL)
Overview
The 75 mile PHL provides rail transportation, maintenance and dispatching services to the Ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles. PHL breaks down trains as they arrive and sends their containers to any of nine on-dock intermodal terminals. In 1997, the L.A. area ports purchased track from BNSF and UP and contracted the PHL to operate the line.
