THE BENEFITS OF INTERMODAL
Intermodal refers to the transport of freight in which more than one mode of conveyance is used. Typically, the freight is moved in Containers and Trailers (dry or refrigerated), Specialized Flatbeds or Tank Containers. And it can deliver transit times that are comparable to over-the-road-only options. Not only can intermodal reduce supply chain costs, but it also allows for growth without investment in additional equipment and it saves fuel (and reduces emissions). In fact, a typical intermodal train takes the equivalent of 280 trucks off the highways.
