Preparing for Hurricane Zeta

Date
Oct 28, 2020

Hurricane Zeta is moving through the Gulf of Mexico and approaching the northern Gulf Coast. The fast-moving storm, with current maximum sustained winds of 90 miles per hour, is expected to strengthen prior to making landfall in southeastern Louisiana this afternoon.

Some flood gates in the New Orleans area have been closed, which affects traffic interchanging with eastern carriers. BNSF will suspend all rail operations east of Lafayette, Louisiana as well as westbound from the New Orleans area at 2 p.m. Central Time today. Our operating teams are closely monitoring the hurricane and are prepared to quickly address any impacts to our network.
