BNSF Railway Honors the Nation's Truck Drivers

FORT WORTH, Texas, September 13, 2011 :

National Truck Driver Appreciation Week - Sept 11 - 17

This week BNSF Railway is thanking the nation's truck drivers. For the eighth year in a row, during National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, employees at BNSF Intermodal facilities will greet an estimated 1,500 truck drivers and provide appreciation gifts.

Intermodal facilities designated for these events are in; San Bernardino, Stockton, and Los Angeles, Calif.; Willow Springs, Ill.; and Fort Worth, Texas. In addition to the events, BNSF will send celebration kits to its truckload customers.

"This is a small way for BNSF to say thanks to the truck drivers that help move the nation's freight," said Katie Farmer, BNSF vice president, Domestic Intermodal Marketing. "These drivers are an important part of the U.S. supply chain. By working together, we are able to deliver the products American consumers use every day."

BNSF works with more than 100 domestic motor carriers to move in excess of 2 million trailer and container shipments each year across the country. Handling more than 3.9 million international and domestic containers and trailers each year, BNSF is one of the world's largest intermodal rail carriers.
